Girls pledge -A legacy of self empowerment and open invitation to all girls
In 1998 Betty Makoni started Girl Child Network at Zengeza 1 High school ( Chitungwiza ,Zimbabwe) and girls from her class and others from surrounding schools joined to form what has become Girl Child Network Worldwide today. The empowerment model puts the girl child at the center and she makes a life commitment and pledge to be empowered first and then move to support other girls. This was designed to be like a `Prayer` is to Christians. Before anything is done in girls clubs or in any event girls make a pledge that they will reach the top. When girls take this pledge they join hands and they are always in solidarity.
Daily we send out simple information that keeps girls focus on achieving the best and to stay on leadership route. Gone are the days girls were like second class citizens in the home ,school and community.
We now call upon girls of all ages to make this pledge and come join our Facebook page (Girl Child Network Worldwide)and work towards their own empowerment. Every girl has potential to stand strong, refuse abuse,be educated ,get a career of their choice and shun being used a a sex object.
Be in solidarity with other girls wherever you are .Just take this pledge and you are a member..
Our Pledge
I am prepared to carry out given tasks and always view the sky as the limit. Reliability being a guide of my being a member and confidence will help me do my duties in the best of my capacity and appreciate the Girl Child Network’s vision as well as mission. In solidarity I join hands with other members and pledge my full support and encouragement in life’s hardest moments and thus I will not fall
